Ming style shuiping (水平) teapot made of jiangponi (降坡泥) clay, a recent introduction to the traditional clays used for Yixing teapots. Jiangponi is a blend of hongni (red), zini (purple), and duanni (yellow) clays and is considered by Yixing artisans to be particularly well-suited for teapots.
As tea practitioners, we second their approval and have been extremely pleased with the brewing performance of this clay. The pots we've received from Baochen Studio are lightly potted, yet with ample heat retention. Particular attention is placed on the proportion of each handmade component to the body of this partially handmade pot. The pour from this classical shuiping is effortless.
