Autumn 2014 Yunhaizhidian 'Bulang'
Autumn 2014 Yunhaizhidian 'Bulang'
Downy, golden buds and amber liquor express on the palate with a mild leather texture and maturing camphor aromatics. Another beautiful addition to our single origin Yunhai Collection.
The Bulang Mountains hold a special place in our hearts! As part of Theasophie's origin story, its villages (especially Lao man'e) preserve our earliest experiences of the tea mountains. Each infusion of this tea, with its faint hint of background smoke (yanwei 烟味) and robust qi that typifies Bulang Mountain terroir, rekindles fond memories.
While there is a tendency to dismiss Autumn harvest teas, we remain ardent admirers. For us, the subtle differences between Spring & Autumn harvests express the seasonal round. We adjust our brewing style, slowing down even more, exploring the dynamics of heating and cooling, the effect of slightly longer steeping times on flavor consolidation and return sweetness (huigan 回甘).
A few lines by one of our favorite poets:
The ancient stream enfolds the autumn colors;
setting sunlight brightens the red pines.
I reach the gate and feel something special,
enter the chamber, and everything’s serene.
