Collection: Jingmai Mountain UNESCO World Heritage

Theasophie is thrilled to announce that the Jingmai Mountains have just been accepted as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the first tea growing region to receive this designation. The Jingmai Mountains are home to one of the oldest and largest tea agroforestry complexes in the world. Welcome to the heart of global tea culture!

Over the last several years, Theasophie has had the honor of contributing to several exhibitions in support of this campaign. We've provided original photography; private archival materials; translation and curatorial assistance. Yimu has also been featured in several interviews.

Now that this immense effort has come to fruition, it is up to the villages and the international tea community to support the lifeways and intangible cultural heritage of the Wa, Bulang, Hani, and Dai ethnic communities. Yimu recently commented that, while the elders can speak to the history of the Bulang people, the younger generations create the path ahead.

In honor of our new World Heritage status, and as a means of furthering Theasophie's efforts in the Jingmai Mountains, we offer two of our most popular teas at a very special price - Spring 2018 'Mangjing' & Spring 2018 'Feral Nature' - five year teas at their original price. AND, we are still honoring our 'buy a tong, receive an extra cake' so that you can sample throughout the aging cycle. Whether you're new to Pu'er tea or have been waiting for the right opportunity to store a tong away for the future, this is the time!
